I always see tons of different signs and canvases to hang up or sit around the house and I love quote canvases, I think they add so much to any space. I’ve been wanting to make something similar for awhile and finally decided to do so.
I’m a huge fan of the Notebook, the book and the movie. I fell in love with it the first time I watched it and I’ve loved it ever since. It’s so timeless and there’s so many romantic lines in there! I have quite a few favorites and it was definitely hard to choose the one I wanted to use. I wanted the sign to be simple and not have a ton of words on it so I cut the quote I chose short.
My husband and I were walking around Michael’s and I’m always on the search for something to create. I love going in the wood aisle because there’s so many possibilities there. I came across this 12×12 birch plywood and knew I wanted to make a quote sign with it and I already had foam stickers from an earlier project.
I am horrible at making things even. I’m pretty sure most of the pictures/wall art in our house are somewhat crooked. This time I was going to make the words straight. I used a ruler and measured from the bottom, up two inches, then I drew a line across the wood, I did this three times.
Then I placed the letters right above the lines. I didn’t use any type of glue to get them to stay down.
The fun part… spray painting! I love this off white Rustoleum spray paint. It really is such a simple and creamy color.
I sprayed three coats, making sure all of it was covered, since the lines were showing through somewhat. The spray paint went on so smoothly!
I am so excited to finally have a quote sign! I love how soft and simple it is and it goes with anything which is definitely a plus! I’ve been trying to find a place to put the vase I made (you can see how here) and I love the way it looks along with the owl. The birch plywood works perfectly for quote signs, soon we’ll have quotes all over our house!
