How to Remove Gel Nails at Home Without Ruining Your Nails

However, it can’t last forever. When the nail starts to grow, everything changes. The look of our hands become unpleasant, and at that moment we want more than ever to get rid of gel nails and return to the natural look. When the manicurist is away or you don’t have enough money to go to the salon, you can clean your nails at home if you follow a few simple steps.

Resist to the temptation to pluck or break your nails!

Although removing the gel seems to be the best way to start the cleaning process, it can affect the health of your nails. When you start detaching the gel, you break the upper layer of the nail, which lead to thin and brittle nails, but also to a rough look.

Remove the upper layer of the gel!

Use a nail file to remove the protective topcoat. Once you get a powdery look, you can move on to the next step. Be careful not to pile too much in this process, as there is a good chance of affecting your nail.

Dissolve the gel!

To dissolve the gel, use a 100% pure acetone to soften the layers of gel on your nails. Soak come cotton pads in acetone, wrap them on the fingers, then cover everything with aluminum foil. Let the acetone to act in this way for 15 minutes. If you want a faster solution, try the solvent that contains both acetone and a rich protein-based conditioner. It softens the gel in about 10 minutes.

After 10-15 minutes, gently remove the gel.
