Large pores are a common issue to people with oily skin, but sometimes they also give headaches to others, since it’s a condition that doesn’t only depend on the sebum that your skin produces. I know lots of people talk or look for recipes that would allow them to shrink the enlarged pores, but honestly, I think this is not the best way to address this problem.
Pores are not like doors that you can open or closed (with steam, hot water or whatever). What you actually see when you think your pores are smaller is actually just a result of irritation, it lasts for little time, and on the long run, it has actually bad results.
What you actually need to do, in order to get rid of this problem, is to make sure your pores and skin are actually in good condition. That means no extra sebum that fills the pores (and sometimes turns them into blackheads), no harsh products that irritate the skin and a nice bonus consisting of “no zits”. The best way to do this is by using BHA acids. I’ve talked about them in my “get rid of blackheads” article (click the name).
Other ways to do it, is to get the best out of good, natural ingredients like tea tree oil and oatmeal. Make a mask out of oatmeal, honey and 2 drops of tea tree oil and spread it all over your face (except for lips and eye area – of course) and leave it for 20 minutes. This helps to clear your skin and also to heal it. Tea Tree oil by itself can get quite irritating if used too often or in a bigger quantity. But this mask, applied two times per week should be perfect to help you get rid of large pores.
Also, try to invest in gentle toner that has vitamin C in it. This helps to brighten the complexion and it also has anti-aging and clearing proprieties. It’s quite a miraculous ingredient that bring the best out of your skin. If you think all these aren’t enough for your skin (ex: if you have too oily skin), take your normal cleanser and put 1/4 of it in another recipient. Crush 2 aspirins and add them to the cleanser. Use this mixture every 3 days in the evening and make sure to rinse it well.
